Installed a Maxxair II vent cover

Post by Mopar_Earl on 5/2/2009, 7:28 pm

I installed the new Maxxair II vent cover over my bedroom roof vent. The Maxxair II is a new and improved version of the Maxxair. It has twice as much venting and has hinges so you can open it and check the roof vent sealant and cleaning. Quick and easy to install. Bought the cover from Camping World.

Looks good goodjob I really like those vent covers. They are life savers. Especially when you forget to close the vent in a hard rain or if you have hail during a storm. A couple of our friends had damaged vents during some recent storms we have had. Boy who ever put that sealant around that vent done a neat job. Most are just blobbed on every which way.

Nice job Earl, I wish we had that choice when mine were installed.

Great pictures too, thanks for sharing....

Hey Tom,
The make a hinge kit for the old style: http://www.maxxair.com/Products/MaxxBracket.aspx I bought them after I had to install new covers after the door incident.

Nice find Shooter !!!
I always seem to get pine needles inside on the vent screen and these retro fit hinges will make it much easier to clean them out .

Two of our vents have covers, but the one in the kitchen/living room doesn't. This vent cover would do very nicely there. Thanks for posting.

Along that note, I just always pull the inside of then vent down to clean it out, that way I don't have to get on the roof. It is just 5 little screws, 4 for the screen and 1 for the handle.

Next time, I will go with the new vent style like Mopar Earl has, nice job!!

Brad,

I do the same as you, remove from the inside and clean. But Shooter I do like the idea of the retrofit hinges. May have to rethink my strategy.
