Satelite Dish

Post by robertz675 on 4/17/2009, 4:54 am

I am looking at either a VuCube 2000 or a Winegard Carryout. Both are automatic set up. Does anyone have any knowledge of either as it is difficult to make up my mind.

I'm using the Wineguard crank up., roof mount, I replaced my existing crank up antenna with the Wineguard in its place. I love it Azimuth is all done from inside the coach with a digital readout, all I have to do is find north ...the only down side is if your not careful with reserving your spot sometimes the signal is blocked byt tree's etc.. for that I carry a spare dish with a tripod,,,camping has changed hasn't it???

I settled on the VuCube 2000. CW had reduced the price. The tech at CW said that it was actually a better product than the Wingard unit. Took it out of the box and plugged it in. It found the satellite with no problem. I was still reading the directions when the picture came on. So much for roughing it.

How does it work with a dual tuner receiver? My concern would be tuner 1 looking at 110° and tuner 2 looking for 129° locations at the same time.

I really don't know. I have Direct TV and they work off of one satellite. I don't get HD but I am roughing it. The fellow at CW said all of the dishes that they sell have a rough time with DISH

I have a Vuqube 1000 and it works very well with my Dish 322 dual tuner receiver. It switches back and forth between the 110 and the 119 satellites just like my dish at home.

You know, I could probably get away with a single location. I think the bulk of the HD I watch is on the 129° location. My HD local channels are on 129.

For reference: Digiblur Dish Channel List and Satellite

I do have an old 508 still in service for kid shows, but I wanted to take my newer 622. I guess the trick is to run a check switch and force it to look at the 129 only for stability purposes.

I wonder if the Vuqube 1000 has a dpp pro plus lnb that supports the separators.

With the VuCube are they better in shady area's or more sensitive to reception issues ?

The same rules apply for all satellite dishes. You need a clear view of the southern sky. The signal that you get is a little weaker than the one at home, but you can't tell it on the TV. The picture looks good. And remember, we are camping.
