Basement Ceiling Storage
Because the DW and I are fulltimers, we have to carry more stuff with us than the average week-end and vacation camper. The basement floor can get cluttered with all manner of maintenance items including exterior maintence chemicals, wash brushes, scrub brushes and long handled brushes. Most of us keep this stuff in our garages, but our here on the road, it has to go with us. I keep the small items in a storage tub, but the long handles for the brushes and brooms have been a problem.
Yesterday, I bought 8 of those metal gripping clips and screwed them to the ceiling of the basement near the curbside access door. Now the handles are stored up and out of the way, but convenient when I want to wash down the Cat. Works like a charm. I didn't include any pix because it seems to be a pretty simple install. Only took about 15 minutes.

Sorry, Mike, I'm a visual kinda guy and would like to see that. Sounds like a great idea, but I do not know of the piece of hardware that you got.

Basement storage
I did the same thing for our fishing poles only I used the actual fishing pole clamps, I plan on using that technique for all of the long stuff,,hot dog forks,,etc...

Here's a shot of the clips with the implement handles mounted to the ceiling of the basement. To the extreme left is the Craftsman 5 gal. wet/dry vack that I installed as a whole trailer vacuum system and on the extreme right is the laundry basket. The grey and black cases contain my Ryobie portable tool gear.
Man can't have enough tools

Need help with Basement Storage
I love the idea of storing handle items on the top of the basement for easy access, and I just HAVE TO HAVE IT. But, I spent an hour walking around Lowes looking for the clamps and asking for help. Can you PLEASE tell me what the clamps are called, where you got them, and if you got them in a Hardware store- what section you got them from (aka: what they are typically used for). Thanks

Re: Basement Ceiling Storage
Thanks for the photo. It looks great. I don't think I've ever seen anything stored on the ceiling. I've seen items stored on the side wall behind the furnace duct with clamps such as yours. Ceiling seems to be better because nothing is going to get in the way up there.

WntRunn, welcome to the forum.
You can pick up the clips at ACE hardware, they have some big spring loaded one's to.
the other clips come in large/med/small size about 3 bucks for a 4 pack.

WntRunn,
I got them in the local "Do It Best" hardware store in Black Mountain, NC. They came in a package of 6 and cost $5.99. They were in the Mop & Broom section, I guess cause that's what they are used for hanging up. Normally they are mounted vertically on the wall, one each for the top of the handle. But in my case I used 2 cause they were mounted on the ceiling.
Getrdun!

I put 3 bungee cords across the ceiling and just slide a rake a wisk broom the awning pull and a flag pole up there and it works well for us. Although the clips keep things looking neater..

Ah - I like the bungee cord idea. We have a few little things, like the hotdog sticks and the awning pull that would be too little for the clips and I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them. Great idea!

Hey Bags, great idea. I might do that on the other side of the basement.

I did a similar assembly on the inside of my cargo doors, but watch the screw length. I have a collapsable rake and broom on one and my awning tool on another. It keeps them handy but out of the way.

I've read a couple of people use the inside of the cargo doors, (now - consider I'm new at this) but I'm concerned about the weight, and on our cat, all the doors raise up and you latch them to the camper. I've considered maybe the hotdog sticks and the awning tool. Would love a picture so I could see how it looks. Thanks for the tips.

Re: Basement Ceiling Storage
We bought a "cargo net" years ago to hold toys. The kids have grown up and flown the coop, but we still have the net. We might be able to put this on the side wall of the basement to hold little stuff. Scruffy is talking about getting some broom clips for the ceiling - he really likes that idea.
