How do you really feel about your Wildcat?
I am picking up my 06 29RLBS Wildcat tomorrow. Everyone on the forum has been very helpful and given me excellent advise. I have visited numerous forums and all brands have problems. People bash Keyston, KZ etc...and say how they would never own another one. Just read someone's post and they said the 29 RLBS was a terrible 5er but people on this website say they love theirs. I don't think you could make some people happy with their purchase regardless of the quality etc.. Some people are just miserable and nothing is ever good enough for them. Not sure where I am taking this but.... If you believed everything was as bad as they say you wouldn't purchase anything. Do others feel that way? Do you sometimes second guess what you just bought because of what just got posted?
sorry I seem to rambling.

I'm happy with mine. Some of the quality of the trim on the inside is sub par in my opinion but I'm a perfectionist and these things are cranked out as quick as possible to keep the cost low.
Everything works and I've not had any problems. Sure I wish I would have gotten one with a bedroom slide or gotten a 27rl instead of the rlse, seems to be a bit cheaper yet, but that's the only one we could afford at the time and we were pressed for time.
I figure in a couple of years we will upgrade as most do. I for sure knew I didn't want something too big to begin with since we had never even owned an RV before.

Big Dave your not allowed to comment on the wood trim. Your a Professional wood working artist. I could see somebody like you walking in any camper and falling to their knee's laughing......
Mga60,
I like mine a lot. I drove from Ga to Ohio just to get it. I looked at a pile of Cheaper one's. And The wildcat even though their in a moderate price range offer a lot of bang for the buck.
Figure most trailers are the same as far as frame and slide parts. Lippert being the supplier. Its the engineer designer that comes up with the lay outs for the Wildcats that gets my praise.
Whoever it was put a lot of thought into the function and usable space of the wildcats.
I looked at a lot of different campers, one that comes to mind was the Coachman. The interior was uninviting and was just plain dull. As was a lot of other one's that pretty much looked the same as the coachman.
The wildcat just looks like a happier camper to me. INside and out. And all the cool little features it has makes it that much hipper on the coolness meter.
The biggest thing i've heard from people that bought a wildcat say they wish they had of bought a bedroom slide like Dave Stated.
My thoughts are Buy the biggest one you can afford. You can never have to much room in a camper.
We've got the 32Qbbs with bedroom and living room slides and its just me , my wife , and my daughter.
And we still feel like we could use some more room.
We love ours.... And I'd buy another Wildcat if I were looking again.

We love ours. We didn't look at any forums to help us make our decision. We visited dealers of a lot of brands, and simply liked the Wildcat better than any of the others.
We haven't regretted our decision.

We understood that the Wildcat was not top of the line, but it was what we were after and we could not be happier. I have a tendency not to take others opinions too seriously. Kind of like campgrounds, everyone has their own likes and dislikes.

Re: How do you really feel about your Wildcat?
Two summers ago when we were looking to buy it boiled down to either a Forest River Wildcat or a Keystone Cougar. Both are thought to be each others competition in build quality, features, price etc. We bought the Wildcat for two reasons. One was layout, quality, bang for the buck etc., and the other reason was the dealer. We are very impressed with the dealer and have since had warranty work done which was done very quickly and they threw in a free winterization. I think the dealer is as important as the unit, but I digress... By the way, any warranty repairs we had done were nothing major and they can happen with any brand. We previously had a Jayco travel trailer and believe me, Jayco owners are as proud as they come, but we are far happier with the build and quality of the Wildcat!
We have the 29RLBS and we love it! Thanks to others on this forum we are looking forward to making some mods that others have done and kindly posted pictures of.
Welcome to the forum and we hope you love your trailer as much as we all do!!

Re: How do you really feel about your Wildcat?
Speaking as a very new Wildcat owner ( Picking up a 32 QBBS this Saturday ) and we’re upgrading from a 27Bh Aerolight. The major features we liked: A larger bunkhouse area for the kids where they can actually get dressed with some privacy ( I have two girls ); The girls have a separate area to hang out with their friends; A much larger bathroom ( Wife really like this feature ) and the separate/isolated toilet area; The width of the living area with the larger kitchen space; and a larger bedroom for us with a actual door etc.
Some of the things I’m a bit worried about: The amount of electrical devices like the front lift jacks and awing ( I’m old but not that old ) ; I’ve been towing travel trailers for 7 years but this is my 1st 5th wheel – I’ve been told they are easier but until I get the experience…; I’m a little bit worried about the height and length of the trailer, it’s definitely going to be the biggest thing I’ve towed.
In general, we really looking forward to it and can’t wait to get it home, setup, and going camping.

Very happy with our 29rlbs but wish it was a such thing as a 32 rlbs .Where you would not have to move the chair to silde the slide in and a little more kitchen counter top would make this perfect rv

I mainly bought our cat because it was the only white fifthwheel we could find. No really we looked at alot of campers before we bought this one we had a Gulfstream seahawk before this and it had alot more high quality items but didn't have the layout once the kids came I really liked the over all look of the cat and I've had some pretty good sized issues with it but I wouldn't really want anything else It tows nice and has a door to seperate the kids room so they can still sleep while were in the living area watching tv or whatever. It's just an all around good camper.

We bought our 29RLBS new in 2006 and have loved every minute of every day we've spent in it. The last two years have been fulltime and the Cat has withstood that test. All systems work perfectly. I've done all my own maintenance, made some DIY improvements, made it liveable for winter camping and repaired some of the minor things that have occured over the past four seasons.
We looked at four other units of various brands and found the Cat to be the best for the buck. I hope you enjoy your 29RLBS as much as we've enjoyed ours.

I agree with the above statement in a lot of ways. Of the now available models I would probably have liked the 31TS, but then again, we do not want to haul a trailer that is another 5 feet longer. For travelling around, the 29RLBS at 29'8" is as long as we wanted to pull. Not to mention it's another almost 2000 lbs heavier at the dry weight - therefore maybe a heavier duty truck??

The Value -Price ratio is perfect for me. I wanted a 5th that I could pay for and not have a loan, but still get a nice unit. Wildcat has fit that requirement and I would buy another in a heartbeat. I had a 5th wheel Fleetwood Terrybefore and it was a good unit. I discovered, as others have said, that you need to do some work on any unit. For me, that's part of the fun!

Re: How do you really feel about your Wildcat?
The dealer played a role for us as well. We actually went around to several dealers with all kinds of makes and models...we just couldn't find anything we all liked. We really thought that the right model would make us all go...WOW!
Funny thing...we looked and looked and nothing did that. It was the end of our second day of looking and then our sales guy said..You know...we just had this unit come in that I bet you like. So he drove us on his golf cart WAY out back of the huge lot...the second we walked in the kids went crazy! And the wife and I really loved the lay out as well! So that is just how it happened...we all walked in and knew that second this was the one.
I wish....we had the new aluminum 16" wheels, the new front cap, a bench style table instead of the free table and chairs, a soft ride pin box. Most of these come with the newest model...but no matter what the lay out is the same....and we bought it for the lay out and space! We sort of feel like this 5ver picked us...not the other way around!

Re: How do you really feel about your Wildcat?
We bought ours in 2006 to see if we were going to like having a 5th Wheel. I come from a long line of RV'ers but always mechanized units, i.e Class A Motorhomes. I'm the first in my family to buy a towable. We picked the Wildcat because of the dealer, several family members had done business with them in the past and really liked the people and their service. Actually, I wanted a Montana at the time, but really glad we didn't go there. So, here we are in 2009 and getting ready to make a deal to trade in our 30LSWB for a 31TS. Not getting a bedroom slide was a mistake and we are tired of "hopping" around the bed in the mornings. Guess that means we do like our Wildcat. There were some problems fixed during the warranty period, about the same number as the GMC truck that tows it. And the trim could be nicer, trailer manufacturers try to hard to make them like a house then get into problems with cost, weight, etc. Then again the cool 5th Wheels that have interiors more like boats or airplanes are out of our price range; but I digress.
Wildcat is a good bang for the buck, or to put it another way the ratio of expense to the time used every year works for us.

We like ours and would make the same decision again. Quality is just average but WC gives you a lot a value. If you compare it to other brands you'll see there's lots of things included that the other makes either don't have or charge extra for.
FR's warranty coverage is better than most as well. I tracked this data very carefully for a year before we bought and it was very helpfull when making our choice.

We spent over 4 years shopping and comparing before we decided on our Cat. We felt it had the most bang for the buck; meaning it had alot of items listed as standard that would have been considered options on other models.
We plan on keeping this one until the wheels fall off, figuratively speaking of course.

Our 27BHWB (god I feel tiny in this crowd) was the only 5th we could find that we could park in our driveway lengthwise and give us a seperate room for the kids.
Now that we moved to a place that can park any towable size of RV on earth, we are still happy with it.
The only real complaint is the concertone, but I can't find a price-effective way to come up with anything better..

We L-O-V-E our 29 RLBS. It seems just perfect for the two of us which is the usual way we camp. Yet, it has a little room for guests. Two children on the jack knife sofa and there is room for a double air mattress in the open area between the table and refrigerator. We also carry a Eureka TL 4 which we can set up outside. (this is a test, how many of you WC campers know what a TL 4 is?
)
We decided early on we wanted a rear living room for the view out the back. The bedroom slide makes all the difference in the world wrt livability and storage.

We had a 2004 27 RL first that I pulled with a 1999
F-150. Which was ok for the flat lands of Tidewater area of the East Coast. We Like this 5th wheel. But we like going to the Mountains. So we purchased a 2004
F-350 . Then later on we Purchased a 2006 29 RLBS which we like even Better.
The Wildcat Line I think you get more Bang for the Buck.

We have had our WC for 4 weeks now and we have enjoyed it very much. This is our second camper and first 5'r. We have looked at 1000's of camper new and used and this is a great value for the money. I believe the frame, etc is the same...only thing you pay more for is up-scaled interior. As far as problems, none. This is rare.....I have seen top of the line models almost fall apart!! Also, some people NEVER do a little up keep on anything and then wonder why things break down. My wife is happy with it and that speaks volumes for a WC!! :)
Be safe and enjoy your new WC.

i must say our family absolutly adors our 32 qbbs. the kids are never seen when their in the front. the dw naps in our bed room happily undisturbed. friends with similar size units tell us how much room we really have. now some of the trim has started to pop lose, but as with any rv you have to stay on top of it. one of the things for me is upgrading when something does happen. this year we have been able to use the unit over 100 days so far, and we have not seen wear. " the dw cleans a lot" . it sure beats the prowler we had before! if i had the money i would purchase another wildcat. oh yeah the forum is also a great reason to help you love wildcat even more!

We spent a couple of years before our retirement looking. We had narrowed the selection to Wildcat and Cougar. Bang for the buck aside they were both nice units. We fell in love with the rear kitchen on the Wildcat 28RKS and the DEALER. Four years of use and a couple of 5000+ mile trips have proven us right.
