Leveling

Leveling
I know everybody has a favorite method for leveling side to side, just thought I would post mine. The first picture shows the diagram of how it works:

The next pic is the blocks I made:

The last shows the box I made to hold them:

I haven't run into a situation that this setup did not work well. I did have a set of Lynx levelers once, but when I used them on ground that was a little soft, they broke on me. One hint though, I thought I would be cute and pit a nice finish on them. It turns out that made them slippery, so when they are stacked they will slide and make it very difficult to drive up on.

Re: Leveling
John, thanks for sharing, we have had problems with severe leveling, the 2nd board would kick out. But doing it your way will perfect every time.
Thanks again......
Thanks again......

Re: Leveling
John;
Great idea! I plan to steal it forthwith.
Thank you.
Have you thought about putting self adhesive sand paper or stair nonslip strips on the bottom of some of the pieces?

Re: Leveling
Feel free to steal the idea...I did!
Just don't remember where I got it from.
Since the pics were taken and I discovered the fancy finish was slippery, the top and bottom surfaces were sanded to roughen them up. Problem solved.

Re: Leveling
I wonder if adding something like this to your wood leveling pieces might help with traction?

Re: Leveling
Very nice. It looks like it would be easy enough to drill a hole in each block to pin them in place thus eliminating any slippage issues. I am starting on mine tommorrow!

Good idea AVID, I like that they don't take up much space.

Re: Leveling
I said I was going to steal John's idea, so here is my version.

Materials:
The first opportunity to use this system comes this weekend but the site we have is pretty level. It may not be needed.

Materials:
- leveling blocks are treated 2 X 8 cut at 45 degreee angle as John described
- the box is from scrap cabinet grade plywood I had laying around
