Home Made Blow Out Accessory

Post by Glen Schumann on 3/29/2009, 12:00 pm

I picked up some parts from my local Ace Hdwe. and made this:

It cost me about $5.61. I had the hose clamps and the fitting to fit the air compressor hose on hand already.

I used it tonight after sanitizing (the forecast low is 22 deg. F.). It makes it a one person job which really helps because the DW always complained about helping (and I was the one who stood there holding the air hose onto the valve stem!) I'm glad I made it up.

Great idea. What PSI do you use? Jim

I use something similar, just remember to turn down the PSI on your compressor. I turn mine down to 40 PSI or lower. So far no issues! Good luck with your solution.

I have something similar myself. Mine just has two brass fittings and no hose. And, like MaxRock, I turn the compressor down to 40psi.

I've still got to rig me up one of those. I keep going to ace but can't remember to buy the parts.

I use one of THESE

The good thing about these is, whether its like Glen's or the link above, when you put air to them, it empties out the hole house filter at the same time. I use it each time I change my filter.

NO SPILLING WATER EVERYWHERE.

Ours is also like Tom's, bought it at CW on sale.

Glen, We'll be leaving for Fort Knox in a couple weeks. Sure hope the hot weather breaks some before we get there.

If it gets too hot, we might hike thru Mammoth Caves to cool down.

The problem with the camping world one is that you can't leave the hose hooked up by itself like on the one in the first photo. I made a ridgid setup of fittings to accomplish the same thing but added a shutoff valve to avoid having to go back to the compressor.
