Extended Warranty
New to RVing and new to the forum. We purchased a Wildcat last month and have been told that there is an option to add a second year to the standard one-year warranty. In order to purchase the second year, it's my understanding that we have to call Forest River within 30 days to be eligible. Questions...is this true? And if so, does anyone have the number to call and begin the process? Thanks in advance and we're looking forward to being on board here.

Re: Extended Warranty
When I purchesed mine, the second year was available for an additional $100. The dealer never mentioned this, I just knew it from reading the RV forums. This may be available to you.

Re: Extended Warranty
My dealer included the hitch installed in my truck and the second year warranty at no extra cost, yeah right. Anyway he offered it without any prodding from me.

Re: Extended Warranty
You should have got a card to fill out and mail to FR along with $100. A week or two later you'll get a plastic card (looks like a credit card) with your warranty info. Get the extended warranty for all of your other products, fridge, A/C etc...

Re: Extended Warranty
I don't recall a plastic card, but I did get a letter back from FR saying my extended warranty was in force. I got a plastic card for the year of road side service they give you (I think that's what it was). I'm into my second year now.

Re: Extended Warranty
Our dealer removed the 2nd year warranty info from the forest river packet . I guess they just wanted to sell people their aftermarket warranty. Anyway, by the time i got to the bottom of things i was past the 7 or 14 day enrollment deadline. I had to call a Forest River rep and she had to get corporate permission to go ahead and enroll me.
The only reason i even knew about the extra year was because of the old form. I have used the 2nd year warranty a few times and it is well worth the $100.

Re: Extended Warranty
The dealer didn't offer until I asked for it, the reason I knew was because of our previos TT.

Bringing topic back to life
Just thought since we have a lot of new CAT owners, I would bring this post back to life.
Y'all that have new campers, be sure to ask your dealer about the extra 2nd year warranty that you can buy for $100 -$150.

Re: Extended Warranty
My dealer took the paperwork out of my packet and didn't mention it. When I asked, they acted like there was no such thing. Once I put pressure on them, they told me I don't want it and it's a waste of money. They said to call the factory (guess they hoped I'd forget) and they'll take care of it. I called Rod @ the factory and he said the dealer has all the paperwork to get with them, I called them and out of the blue the same guy knew all about the second year and offered to mail the paperwork to me. I said no, I got to have it done within 10 days and almost half had pasted, so I made them fax it to me and I made it in time. Man, you'd of thought I was taking them for every penny they had. Than they wanted to mail it to me, so by the time I'd get it, the 10 days would of pasted. He seemed upset when I wanted it faxed while still on the phone. Gotta watch these companys!!
Luckly I had found out about the second year from this site before I even ordered my trailer or I've of never known about it.

Re: Extended Warranty
My dealer actually threw in the second year warranty with the deal along with a hitch. I think I could have gotten my Cat cheaper but at the time I was in need of it right away and didn't have time to really shop and compare. They were cheaper than the other dealer in town but I've noticed they don't handle the Wildcat line anymore. Haven't went in for warranty work yet but I'm making a list.

Re: Extended Warranty
I think the dealers don't mention the 2 year warranty so they get to charge you for repairs sooner..

Re: Extended Warranty
They also want to sell you the seven year warranty from a private company. That is worth more money to them on commision.

Re: Extended Warranty
I just brought home a 2009 Wilcat last week and the paper for the extended warranty was in with the manuals and other warranty info. I still haven't found the safe, so I'm not sure if they omitted in my model for 2009.

Re: Extended Warranty
Yes, we were about 2 weeks out and had to have Beverly Scott get permission from corporate in order to get ours activated.
Our problem was the dealer, they only wanted to sell us their extended warranty. They had removed all Forest River paper work concering the factory extended warranty from the trailers packet. I kept telling them that the factory warranty was the only one i wanted and they kept saying i wolud have to call Froest river for the info, by the time i talked to Beverly the specified time had gone by so she explaind to someone at corporate what had happened and they ok'ed things. Well worth the money !

Re: Extended Warranty
I had the same experience; the dealer wanted to sell me his extended warranty and did not even tell me about the FR. I got it with permission. Have to say I never used it, but I'm still glad it was there.

They dropped the safe and a few other things. My 2009 didn't come with the safe. My build date is 09/2008
