Satellite look-angle caculator website.

Post by Mmiller on 3/19/2009, 2:35 pm

Found this site to be useful before I head out. Just fill in where your going and Sat your looking for and when you get to your campsite you will have all the info handy and ready. One note I want to share, even with all the right equipment, finding Sats can sometime make you speak a long list of ugly words. I have had full strength on my meter and still no tv.....I have spent from about 5 mins to 2 hours on finding a signal. Good luck and remember to have a good view of the southern sky!!

Here's another pointing tool that I recently wrote an article about.

Here's what I use.

All you'll need is java.

Are any of these web sites useful when you're boondocked in the middle of nowhere and the closest zip code is over 20 miles away?

With dishpointer.com you can enter Lat/Long and get the pointing information.

The site I pointed at is a place to download a fairly small file, along with docs I suppose, which lives on your computer. No need for the internet once you've got it and Java. Java is almost always laying about somewhere on computers anymore and if not just go get it.

We use the VU-Cube, and it normally takes less then two minutes to tune in the satellite. Below is a nice video of the system.
