Howdy neighbor, Beavers Bend is our favorite place!! One issue you might have is that there are no reservations and the weekends get full by Thursday this time of year. Actually, with the kids around here out on spring break, they may be full all week long. I don't know where you are at, but I typically pull over on Thursday and get up early on Friday and come to work.

As far as things to do, depending on what you have in mind, there is plenty to do. The best thing is sitting outside and enjoying the day. They have a little logging museum, horse rides, a little train for the small people, trout fishing is there main thing. Lots of trail to hike on. We always enjoy seeing the owls and hawks they have in the rehab facility (they also have a family of flying squirrels that live in there and they are fun to watch and pet). If you want a very good steak dinner, go to Abendigos at Hochitown (about 2 miles north of the main park entrance) a little pricey, but well worth it. Also, on HWY 259 you will see Beavers Bend Wildlife Museum. It is a very nice museum of different mounts. Has a Kodiak bear in there that will make you shudder.

I was thinking about pulling up there this afternoon myself. The problem is there is not really anywhere else to go if they are full.

Sorry about rambling, just go there alot. We have always stayed on the river sites which are the hardest to come by.

Danny,

I can second Brad's comments. We have camped there several times. It is a nice CG, but they do not take reservations. As Brad stated, it may be full this time of year as it is Spring Break. My only words of wisdom are...be careful backing into your campsite, some of the sites are tight and the trees are lurking close by. I had one tree jump out and hit my truck while I was backing into the site. Keep a close eye on those sneaky trees!

Same place, just depends on what map you are looking at. What about White Oak state park? I have driven through it and it is a nice park for relaxing. Not much to do other than fish, but that's ok sometimes. Degray is full, Daisy is full, and I suspect Millwood is full, but I have not talked to them. At Millwood lake, there is Beards Bluff campground which is Corps, just across the dam from the state park. Most people from around here prefer it.

I realized I told you wrong, Hochitown state park is a different campground, and actually there are 2 of them. They are not on the lake, but we did stay there once a few years ago and it was nice. They are first come first serve. They are easy access to the boat ramps. Sorry about that.
