Pet thread...show em if you got em!!

Post by TC on 2/27/2009, 10:43 am

First topic message reminder :

We need a pet thread in here, so I'll start.

Meet Molly; our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and the love of my life...next to the DW of course. Wink

I call her my little cockroach, because of all the prominent feeler wiskers she has.

As a pup 2007

We made a bed for the "kids". Also put a 12V fan in the back for them as well.

I made it out of plywood, 2x4 scraps, some egg crate material, and an old moving blanket; All things we had around the casa.

The dogs really enjoy it!!

I haven't posted lately as things have not been well for us.

Our Molly passed away suddenly Monday, and we're still trying to find out what happened. She was perfectly fine at 8 in the morning and dead at 5 in the evening. I'm asking all my Wildcat friends to please say a prayer for us during such a rough time in our life. I don't think I could EVER love another dog as much as I loved my Molly.

Its amazing how much we can love our dogs. Even so, its just a fraction of the love our dogs have for us.

Hang in there TC.

It's one thing to grieve over a pet who had a full life before they passed, but it's another to have grief the sudden loss of one that has been perfectly healthy, never sick a day in her short life, just to be taken from us when she was only 3 1/2. She had so much ahead of her; we had BIG plans together.

It is amazing that a cuddly, big eyed, ball of love can make a grown macho, man turn into a rubble of tears. At least that is what happens to me when we loose our pets. Yes, I can empathize with you because we lost "blacky" when he was only 3 years old. Like your pet, we did not have any warning. How we handle a loss, is to go to the pound and get another ball of love, and it helps divert some of the pain. About every 12 years, we loose our friends, so the wife and I have had many wonderful pets in our 39 years of marriage. Knowing the pain of a loss of a pet, I can only imagine what pain it would be to loose a child.

Because we were heartbroken a few times, we choose not to have a pet. We really enjoy our granddoggers, though. Someday we might change our minds and get a cuddly pup, but that day isn't here yet. We think about it, then remember the heartbreak. Neither of us feels that we can go through it again.

You're right, Tater, in saying noone can replace Molly. I still shed tears over her on occasion. And I'm secure enough in my manhood to admit it. And yes, I am already smitten with Kloe.

It's wonderful to have someone in my lap again. Kloe is definitely a lappy, and that's probably what I was missing the most.

I also look forward to taking her on all the short car rides and all the wonderful trips that Molly didn't have a chance to enjoy nearly enough of.

Ugh, I'm choking up right now!

What can I say, they were ready to dig in the garden and plant some plants.

Annie (the dog loves to play "Roll the kitty" in the snow, however O'Malley is not really big on the idea.

The three cats, O'Malley, Misty & Harper, love to sit at the door watching the chipmunks that Karyn feeds.

We have a regular 4 ring circus. The good thing is that they all get along with each other. If it was up to Karyn, we would have a lot more animals around.

This is Tasha, our much loved Rott. One of the best dogs we have ever had. She loved people and especially children. We had to put her down a few years ago because she had cancer and was suffering terribly. One month later we lost our 17 year old poodle, who was boss in the house.

I swore I'd not have another dog but my grandson had this Bagel named Lucy that wasn't allowed in their new apartment. I really tried not to get attached, but the dang thing attached herself to me. Thought I had some pics of Lucy, but must be on wifes laptop.

Our Miniature Schnauzer, Winston, turned 16 today!! clapper

We took him to one of the area lakes for a picnic where he was treated to fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans...and some extra one-on-one lovin' from Mom and Papa.

We're hoping 17 is in the cards for him. He's sure been a good and faithful companion. snoopy
