Calling on Colorado Cat's

Post by davemartinez on 4/10/2008, 12:33 pm

It seems as though we have several Cat's in the Centennial State. Anyone up for a "jamboree" of sorts this year? We already have several weekend trips planned throughout the year but perhaps we can all meet somewhere? And, of course, Cat's from other states are most welcome!! Laughing

Count me in

When it comes time I am sure I can get an excellent "deal" from one of the subscribers to the Directory as they would love the publicity. We otta get it on the books or it will never happen.

Sounds good, if we can pull it off. Somewhere over by Buena Vista is pretty central, but there are lots of nice places. Let's all come up with some dates and see if anything works.

The Creede area is one of my favorites and I don't think you can beat the scenery! 4th of Julyish may be difficult, but early June works for me. I like anywhere near water Very Happy

Dave, I like the end of season trips you have planned - tight lines sunny

Keith,

The September trip is one I have been taking for the past 8 or 9 years. Can't beat the Conejos in September but last year was an exception. Probably the least amount of fish I have ever had in Sept.. Still can't beat it though!

Tight lines!! cheers

Dave:

That place you stay on the river (can't remember which one it is) is great. When I drove over the bridge and saw their river front property, I knew I had to come back Very Happy I caught a few fish, but was wrapped up in the scenery and it was a great trip, first time I had been there - thanks for the tip.

Added the Google maps to the Video Directory, thanks for that suggestion.

How about Buena Vista for a get-together; I can get us a nice deal at Snowy Peaks
http://www.snowypeaksrvpark.com/index.htm
We could hop over Cottonwood Pass and fish the Taylor - say weekend of June 20th? Just trying to lay some plans.........thoughts anyone.

Keith,

That would be Ponderosa Campground/RV Park, we have been going there for a while.

As far as the weekend of June 20th, already booked in Woodland Park and celebrating my father's birthday.

Just brainstorming here. I'm open the first two weeks of June, the first two weeks of July (getting kind of crowded then), and the first half of August. September is usually open and a great time to camp (Conejos sounds good to me). It would have to be a weekend; my wife is a teacher and starts back the middle of August.

Buena Vista camping

Post by DaveC on 4/12/2008, 10:03 am

Has anyone pulled there 5th wheel past Cottonwood lake near Buena Vista?
I have not been up there in years and was wondering if the road is smooth enough to go past the lake.

Do you mean

Post by keithbennett on 4/12/2008, 2:38 pm

Dave:

Do you mean from the summit down to Taylor? From BV to the summit is fine, but from the summit to Taylor is dirt and can be rough. If the dirt part has just been graded, its O.K. if you are in no hurry but if its rough - it is not worth it in my mind.

Hope I answered your question

CottonWood Lake

Post by DaveC on 4/14/2008, 6:35 am

I mean past Cottonwood lake, to get their you turn left at the bottom Cottonwood Pass before you start the climb up the pass. You go on a dirt road 4 or 5 miles and you come to Cottonwood lake. They have a campground but its only good for tents and small campers, was wondering about going past the lake becasue I have tent camped up there many years ago and there are lots of places I remenber where a 5th wheel would fit but don't really remember seeing any up past the lake.

7-25 is a possibility for us, have to run it by the wife. We will be coming back from a 2 week trip to Oregon and Idaho on Friday 7/25. Gunnison is a short detour.

I like the Buena Vista idea best. Its central and there is no pass to cross from the front range. With the high price of fuel, it would be better. Don.............

I'm flexible. We will be heading home from two weeks on the road and could stop in if it goes. If not, the fall is a great time to camp in Colorado.
