Leftovers

Post by Scruffy and Tater on 12/29/2008, 4:13 am

We had ham for Christmas. Yesterday I made three ham and potatoes augratin casseroles. One was for dinner, and the other two are in the freezer. We'll take at least one of them on vacation in a few weeks.

We usually freeze and take two or three dinners. They're great for the traveling days. Take one out of the freezer and put it in the refrigerator the night before we want to eat it. Then, after we get set up at a campground, we just pop it in the microwave until it is heated through.

The ham bone is in the freezer now. Later this week, we'll make beans and ham. Some of that will be going on vacation, too.

Every time I read one of your posts in the "Around the Campfire" forum I get hungry. If I remember correctly you have the number 17 on your Wildcat. I'll be watching for that number in the coming season and if I see it in a campground, I'll be knocking on your door with a knife and fork in my hand and begging for food.

That's okay by us. It will be interesting to see how far we can stretch 2 servings. lol!

Some salad and another veggie should do the trick. Would you prefer wine, coffee, tea, water or milk with that?

Oh, yes - we have plenty of dinnerware and utensils. No need to bring your own. I would like to see you beg, though. :)

I'm not proud. I'll be happy to beg for food and drink.

A nice Cabernet would go good with Ham and potatoes, at least that is what I had with ours last night.

Cab is good. We drink a glass of red wine every evening after dinner. We keep reading how good it is for us. :)

Simple. We are very disciplined. :drunken: Well, oftentimes we have wine WITH our dinner, and because we're so disciplined, we still have to have our glass of red wine AFTER dinner.
