Insurance Carriers who's the most common ?

Post by Admin on Mon Aug 18, 2008 11:02 pm

I researched insurance carriers from another forum before I bought my camper.

I went with Gilbert Insurance out of Florida. They had the best rate I could find and were one of the top " 3 " recommended carriers from that research.

Has anyone had to use their RV insurance and what kind of experience was it ?

Back in 1995 I had Travelers Insurance covering all my vehicles. I owned a Sunline 18.5' single axle 5th wheel at the time and during the winter a large tree fell and rolled into the right rear corner of the camper. Travelers sent an adjuster out within a day and when I took it to Camper's Inn in Nashua, NH they came pretty close to the estimate (not knowing what the adjuster had said). Travelers paid for the whole fix and I wasn't out a dime.

I've since switched to AAA Insurance. Not had a claim since 1995.

We too have Travelers. We have our home, auto and RV insurance all through Travelers and have great rates and customer service.

Add another vote for Travelers. We have the house, auto, RV pkg. too. Only thing I'm not sure of, is whether they'll pay replacement cost in a worst-case scenario.

We have Erie Insurance on vehicles, RV and house. I had no problems with getting the hail damage fixed on the truck, and there wasn't enough damage to the CAT to turn in a claim.

State Farm here, 9 autos, one 5er, 2 homes , 1 atv, life and casualty. Looking for a part time job, as long as I don't have to work. Wink

We are also with State Farm -- 2 autos, the Cat, house and umbrella liabilty. Been with them long enough with an adequate record that they guarantee they will never cancel (they don't say what the premium might be). They have treated me well --have hail damage on last 5er and blown tire damage on a TT before that and covered them in total. They don't give full replacement value insurance on an RV though, only blue book value if totaled or stolen

I have my two autos and RV with State Farm now for 35 yrs. They cancelled the home owners because of the hurricanes we have in FL. The home policy alone if I could have keep it was going to be over 4K only. I had two small claims since 2005 and they fix everything without any problem.
