The Purina Diet

I overheard a guy in the campground telling about his recent shopping trip to Walmart. This is how it went:

"I have a dog and I was buying a large bag of Purina at Wal-Mart and was in line to check out.

A woman behind me asked if I had a dog. On impulse, I told her that no, I was starting 'The Purina Diet' again, although I probably shouldn't because I'd ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.

I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pants pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry and that the food is nutritionally complete, so I was going to try it again.

I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was by now enthralled with my story, particularly a guy who was behind her.

Horrified, she asked if I'd ended up in the hospital in that condition because I had been poisoned. I told her no, it was because I'd been sitting in the street licking my behind - and a car hit me.

I thought one guy was going to have a heart attack as he staggered out the door laughing loudly."

So, Do you have a dog?

My DW put me on a diet once. Was losing an avg. of 4 lbs. a week. She calculated that at that rate, by the end of the year she would be completely rid of me!!

Nope, no dogs anymore. But........ I have three granddoggers. Sparky, my son and dil's dog, a Welsh Terrier, lives in Southern California. If we pulled around their corner in our truck right now, he'd go crazy because he recognizes the sound. Laverne and Shirley are my daughter and sil's Rat Terriers, and live about 25 minutes away. Jim and I were waiting at their house when Lisa and Scott brought them home from the shelter. They're sisters. We puppy sit with the girls when Lisa and Scott go away, and sometimes during long home stands for the Rangers.

We miss having a dog of our own, but have gotten used to the freedom of being able to take off whenever we wish.
