Sat Dish Holder

Post by Scruffy and Tater on 5/9/2009, 6:37 pm

Scruffy just finished getting our Direct TV hooked up and working properly. He put brackets on the ladder and can slide the dish in when we're set up, if we need it.

Scruffy says he made the brackets out of two different size conduit hanger brackets.

Also, he said I should mention that the sat dish is not up there when we're traveling. The brackets are, but not the dish.

I mounted the dish mast on the ladder so it's perfectly plumb if the trailer is leveled. I just used the standard mount and u bolts. The dish comes off for travel.

Sometimes we get under trees.... in that case, we use a tripod that sits on the ground and has a long coax.

I have a tripod too for the same reason... Part of me wants to invest in the auto seek models, but I don't really ever get to sit and watch TV when I camp. The kids and wife keep me busy. The OTA antenna is easier to catch up on the news.

Re: Sat Dish Holder

That's a pretty neat solution, my sat dis is semi auto and has a nice hole in the roof, (no doubt just waiting to leak). Being more serious though its little snippets of info like this that helps keep things simple, and makes you think I could also do that and save some money for my next trip.

Jetskier that looks like it worked well. I wish I would have seen that before I bought the one from Poles & Holders. I also keep the tripod around.

I built this device and works well even in very high wind. I'll post a picture when I get a chance.
