Computer Mount/Stand for Truck
Good Day All!
Has anyone found or fabricated one of these for truck? I was looking over some commercial ones and I thought it would be wise to ask my friends here first before I buy.

Re: Computer Mount/Stand for Truck
I saw one on another Forest River forum. It was designed by someone who uses the name "Radio." You can see it here:

You might have to register to see the photos. If you don't want to register, I've copied the photos and can send them to you. Just send me a PM with your e-mail ID.

Re: Computer Mount/Stand for Truck
That looks nice. I like the wooden construction. Radio's is made of steel, and has some welding. That's okay, if you know someone who can do the welding (free would be nice). I was thinking someone could probably made a wooden one based on Radio's design.

Re: Computer Mount/Stand for Truck
Oh.......I haven't done it yet but when the weather warms I plan on getting the flat plate adapter and mount it to the floor of the cat between the recliners so I can just pull the mount out of the truck and put it in the cat for an adjustable laptop desk that would swing between either chair.

Re: Computer Mount/Stand for Truck
Here is the model that fits my truck. The upright part comes loose from the base with a simple knob.http://www.jottodesk.net/chevrolet-jotto-desk/chevrolet-truck-jotto-desk/chevrolet-truck-jotto-desk-g200-silverado-2500.htm
The upright peice is adjustable in height too.
This is the flat base that I would bolt in the cat and move the part from the truck onto this base. http://www.jottodesk.net/universal/jotto-desk-universal-base.htm

Re: Computer Mount/Stand for Truck
Since I am in the minority with the Chevy 2500's and have a manual transmission, that would not work for me. But it is a nice looking mount.

Sure it would work. When my wife is in the truck it will still swing in front of her and she still has plenty of room. She can use it for playing movies or games on the computer. When she's not in the truck it can easily swing over the passenger seat and point it at the driver.

Frank,
That airdesk looks nice, just curious as how stable it would be. Very nice and portable if it is stable.

Re: Computer Mount/Stand for Truck
I would be very wary when fabricating these at home. Keep in mind that anything you put in the cab becomes a projectile in a wreck. Therefore I don't think the Velcro is a good mounting option. I've got to agree with the RAM systems. I know the Police use them. I have seen and used RAM mounts for GPS and Marine equipment. The have excellent fit and finish.

And I'm the worlds worst for piling useless crap in the back of my truck that could be some serious projectiles....

Re: Computer Mount/Stand for Truck
I have a RAM system in my company rig, works great. Buy the quick release (optional) mount and the thing goes in/out in seconds. I attached a 700W inverter (lighter plug) to the mast to power my computer.
