Heading up on the 13th for a week long stay in the Amish country somewhere near Hershey (DW is heavily into quilting!). Its the last weekend one of the kiddy amusement parks is still open for the season. So, if I can get to the CG and get set up in time on Saturday I am going on Saturday.. if not..... well lets just say that my son will have a better time than me.

So long story short, I plan on going but not sure if I can....?

Hershey CG's are booking up fast. Better check soon.

I think we are going to try Buttonwood CG in Mexico, PA. Its about 1 hour drive to Hershey.

You might want to try Lancaster, lots of Amish stuff there. And Dutch Wonderland is there too, but open this weeek & weekend and on Sept, 1, then on weekends only. And there is a CG right next to Dutch Wonderland.

How crazy is that! Old Mill is where we have the reservations! Have you stayed there before? How far of a drive is Old Mill from Hershey?

Old Mill Stream CG is about 35 miles from our home. We have never stayed there, but someone on here has. Hopefully he will chime in and let you know what its like.

Hershey is 44 minutes from Old Mill, about 32 miles. Not a bad drive at all.

The restaurant across from Old Mill Stream, Lapps, is a very good family restaurant to eat at. If you like Chinese, across Rt 30 from Dutch Wonderland, there is a buffet that is very good. Of course, there is all the "Amish" buffet's around also.

We spend all day at Hershey Park RV show yesterday. There were suppose to be over 1200 coaches there, but we didn't count them or go into each one, but I'd say there was at least 1200. Motor homes accounted for at least half, it not more. Everything from slide in's to 43 foot motor homes, and everything in between was there. If you are looking for something new, this is the place to be.



Since we were there on the first day, most of the folks were older, um, our age. In our opinion, attendance was pretty good for the first day of the show.

Vendor participation seemed down from last year. When you enter the arena, vendors on that floor were everywhere, like normal. But the vendor area on the arena floor was only 3/4 full. Camping World had the center floor, but even they seemed to have less than last year.




Although we did almost pulled the trigger, we found a really nice Montana 2980RL that we really liked. 34 feet long, washer/dryer hookup with 3 slides. DW really loved it. Went back and looked at it 3 times, and talked to the sales person 2 times. But then we came home to our little CAT.....

Thanks for posting pics. I try to stay away from those show because I find fifth wheels that I WANT, I NEED, I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT! Then I see the price and the look on my wife's face and I realize I CAN'T HAVE IT!

There were 4 Teton's there for sale, they were selling them for cost, $69K to $120K.

Well Im here at the Old Mill Stream campground and its pretty relaxing! I didn't make it up intime on Saturday to make it over th Hershey! Had one heck of a time finding my way here!! Google maps had me lost in downtown York! Then I drove by dutchworld without finding the campground! Somewhere I thought I read or heard that the CG was "across the street"! when its dark and your driving solo it makes it difficult to navigate, drive, and look for the entrance! I finally pulled in the CG right at 8 p.m.! Just as they were closing the office. They sent someone down to help me back in since it was so dark. Got to the site tried to back in 3x and couldnt do it! The owner showed up jumped in my truck and backed her right in!! Was a long day and a short night! The DW and the in-laws (with the 19 month old) showed up at 11 p.m. Their flight was delayed / re-routed (was supposed to go thru Dallas but the hurricane pushed all flights north......
Anyway, all is good. The CG is nice and quiet. A Studebaker car show is this week and there are all kinds of Stude's here...... Cars for Daddy, quilts for mommy, and grandparents for the kids!!! gotta love life!

Sorry to hear you had such a hard time findong the CG. It is kind of easy to miss it, the sign is a little hiden.

Bummer you didnt get to the show at Hershey, it was GREAT!!!
