slideout problem

Post by Areeo on 3/1/2010, 1:08 am

I was getting my camper ready yesterday and the slide paused coming in. I waited and it came in just a bit at a time. I went to the front of my camper and tried to pull it in from there it just run a sec and quit. Now all it does when I try from inside is clicks at the motor. Any ideas what I need to fix it? Is there a breaker somewhere that I am missing.

Areeo to the forum. Yes you can do a search on breakers and find lots of information about them. Lots of people have had the same problem. I know that others will jump in and give more information on this problem.

Areeo,
to the forum.

I did a search of "slideout stopping" or maybe it was "slideouts stopping" and found quite a few threads that might help. Here's one:
http://www.wildcatcamperforum.com/maintenance-repairs-trouble-shooting-service-warranty-f12/slide-outs-stopping-t1803.htm?highlight=slideout+stopping

You can do more searches by entering a word or two in the search box - upper right.

Also, when some of the other members see your question, you'll probably get lots of suggestions.

Scruffy and I haven't had that problem yet, but if/when we do, we'll come here for help.

Tater

Where are you from??

Could be the fluid is thick from the cold and is bogging the pump down. I had the same problem a few weeks back.

Most likely, the breaker is tripping and then re-setting.

Some of us have installed a larger breaker up by the pump to keep this from happening.

Cat slide-outs don't stick like this when they're new. My suspicion is that in time, the drag on the slide-out rails due to corrosion, dirt, etc. become too much for the minimal sized breaker that FR installs.

Installing at least an 80 A breaker should be a permanent fix.

Welcome to the group! We are glad you are here.

If you are getting a clicking sound at the motor, that would indicate to me that battery is too low on charge. Even if the Wildcat is plugged in, the slide pump runs off the battery and requires more amperage than the converter puts out.

My slide also started stopping 2 or 3 times when i retracted it. I emailed Beverly at the West Coast Factory and she sent me this message and diagram.

It sounds like you need to add a 50 amp breaker and attached you will
find the drawing of how to do it.
If you have any questions please contact us and we will be happy to help

One things for sure, theres somebody lurking here pretty much 24/7. And can get a question answered pretty darn fast most of the time. I wonder if Forest River should put the forum on the payroll " Online Customer Service " .... what can we help you with today ? ,,,,

and if you can wrangle the phone numbers from some on here you can even call and talk to a live agent on duty..... I think the main office I call at all hours is in North East , MD.
