Slide out fuses

Post by bags24 on 11/5/2009, 3:55 am

My cat started popping the auto rest fuse when closing the slide over the summer.
I purchased 3 40 amp auto resetables fuses off a site on the internet.
This past Saturday i was going to swap them out, but as i took the old ones off the wall they were screwed to i noticed they were 50 ampers. I know there have been a few that replaced them, just wondering what you replaced them with?.

I removed our manual reset 50 amp fuse and installed two 40 amp auto reset fuses just for the slide alone. You can see a photo in my modification photos http://community.webshots.com/album/180262704smXHmj?start=24

I had the same slide stopping issue. I replaced the 50 amp with another 50 amp fuse. My son-in-law is an electrician and he suggested that I replace with the same amp fuse. He said that generally speaking you do not want to place a larger breaker in place of a smaller one for safety reasons. Since I am electrically challenged, I took him at his word. Works fine now.

Well a few Saturdays came and went, Yesterday i finally hooked a 40 amp breaker to the 50 amp breaker already in use. The slides opened and closed without stopping to rest several times, and it only took me about 10 to 15 minutes to complete.
Thanks for the help... Hope this Weather lasts.

I'm thinking they just get some really poor quality fuse's from the get go.
