Rock Guards

Post by shooter on Fri Jul 18, 2008 1:10 am

Well, I was tired of cleaning up the front of the camper, especially mud and dirt and thought it wouldn't hurt to keep rocks from flying up and hitting the fiberglass. So I made a rock guard for the truck hitch. Here is a photo: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/2412956020056654887EtpvYj

Almost good, took them off before the trip because the rubber was a bit too long, the 1" clearance before hitching up wasn't enough. I need to cut them off a little more plus make another change to the tube that slides into the receiver (shorten it a little) - the corner of the tube holding the rubber comes a little close to the front of the Cat due to that aftermarket bumper (Ranch Hand) the previous owner put on which brings the 2" receiver way out. I have a little time to do this, the next trip is not until September.

Shooter,

I have plans to make a rock shield that is similar to yours. I was planning on using the plastic long grass like material you see on some of the MHs for shields. My plan is to run it the entire width of the truck, not sure why, sounded like a good idea at the time. My plans are also to put a driving light on each corner, plugs into the bumper 7 pin connector and comes on w/ my back-up lights. Can never have to many back-up lights.

All I need know is to get my mig welder.

Thanks for the motivation to get mine built.
