Emergency flasher/jumper for camper lights

Post by oldelmer1 on Sat Apr 12, 2008 6:08 pm

Here is the way to make your camper driving lights come on. If you use the flasher unit, they will flash, if you use the wire jumper, they will stay on all the time.

I didn't see oldtimer's picture at first. Thought I had something fresh. Oh well at least I'm learning to post pictures. This site is much easier than the other.

extra jumpers

Post by grover on Sat Apr 12, 2008 11:20 pm

Make sure that you have extra jumpers there is always other campers wanting to know how you makes the lights come on, so it's good to have some extras just to give out.

You can get them at any automotive parts store. I got mine at the dealer supply store.

Thanks for the flasher info, I am going to get one for the glove box on the way home.

A little improvment on the jumper:
get a male plug assembly and jump the two terminals inside the plug. That way all that you have to do is plug it in, no exposed wire hanging out.

Here's the link to the thread generated over on the other CAT forums: http://68.15.40.218/wildcat/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2915&SearchTerms=flasher

It has several uses and comes in very handy!! thumbUp

Ok, I have to ask the obvious "Newbie" question here????

Why would you want your camper lights on or flashing in the camp ground?

Question Question Question

Because it's festive. It could also be annoying to your fellow campers.

If you MUST leave your trailer on the side of the road while you drive into town to get a new tire (or other part), your trailer will be very visible with the lights flashing. This happened to us years ago - before ERS.

I use a standard 10 amp fuse with the blades bent just a bit to fit in the connector. This will keep them on constantly.
I do have a jumper with flasher for newbies. Then i give them the
"What did you do, Did you break it? Should have bought a Cat" while it's flashing. Try it, it's a riot.
