Better water pressure.

Post by Big Dave on Tue Jun 24, 2008 11:56 am

When we bought the Cat the dealer gave us a water pressure regulator. You know, the little brass thing you put on the hydrant then hook your hose to it. Looking in the Camping World catalog I noticed a high flow one and decided to buy it and try it out.

You would not believe the improvement. The original was rated at 45 psi and the new high flow is 55 to 60 psi. Showers are actually forceful now.

I know this doesn't help you drycampers but just some information for those who hook up to city water.

For the $10.00 cost it was well worth it.

Nice to know, I didn't realize they were even available. I changed my water filter to a less dense one and that helped. I 'll have to look for the high flow regulator.

Thanks for the info...

Better water pressure

Post by Ole Yella on Tue Oct 21, 2008 10:10 pm

How do you know that regulator will not allow to much water pressure? Does anyone have any idea what the water pressure specifications are on the 2008 29RLBS? I have the new water pressure regulator also but have not used it yet. Sure could use more pressure when in the shower but I don't want to bust a water connection.

I agree, the high-flow regulator is the way to go.

Before, I had wimpy showers and I used to fill up the FW tank at the camp site and use the pump for showers.

FYI, upgrade to the high volume variable speed water pumps, worth every penny. I got the SHURflo Extreme 5.7. I think that Flojet makes similar pumps too.

You can get a Watts N45B house regulator at Lowes or N55BG that you can adjust the water pressure. The lines in the current RV's can handle 60 PSI.

A few years ago on the other Wildcat site, someone mentioned that there is a little disk restrictor in the shower head that restricts water flow. I took mine out and have not had the problem with the shower since.

I don't remember that post. I'll have to remember to look at my showerhead next spring.

It was on the hose end of the shower head. I just took the hose off and popped it out.
