5th Airborne Installation

Post by JKFOURBOYS on Mon Aug 18, 2008 7:56 pm

Fellow Wildcats,

Two questions...

1.What's the difficulty to install a 5th Airborne yourself?

2. Adjusting the brake contoller, is it necessary to adjust the brake controller depending on the driving you do...in town stop and go vs. mountains?

Joey,

I can't help you on the 5th airborne as I use a B&W. I possibly could help you with the controller if you stated what type of brake controller you have.

And welcome to the site.

Welcome to the forum JKFOURBOYS.

1. Should be an fairly easy swap, but it will take two persons. It took me about 30 minutes to replace ours with the Demco.

2. I have the Prodigy controller and have it at gain setting two and about 7.2V, I don't adjust for mountains or stop and go.

Mike,

It's the Tekonsha Envoy...and we are relatively new at this. When driving in town or stop light to stop light, I have to adjust the sensitivity down because it will jerk the truck backwards. Once I am on the interstate or coming down mountains, I have to adjust it upwards.

Is this the way it should be?

Personally I don't think so. Are you adjusting with the front voltage knob?
It looks like that this controller has a level know which adjusts the delay/aggressiveness the brakes are applied. Have you adjusted the controller with the level knob?
