Dirty and Nasty Places

Post by Richard Mondavi on Sat Jun 28, 2008 1:39 pm

Have you ever stayed at a really lousy RV park or campground? The worst place my wife and I overnighted at was Timberline RV park in Lebanon, TN. The place was a dump. The owners were nice enough but the park was falling apart. There was a pool that was empty except for some rain water and it was obvious it hadn’t been used for years. It had a tennis court without nets and it too hadn’t been used for years. The sites were unlevel and there was a lot of road noise.

The worst part for us though was that most of the people staying in the park were permanent residents living in trailers that would never (and couldn’t) be on the road again and were in dire need of repair. You know the type, if the roof starts leaking they go to Walmart and get a big blue tarp to put over the roof. Most of the people looked like they could have been stars in the movie “Deliverance.”

This was the only place we have ever stopped at that my wife told me to make sure the door was locked when we went to bed for the evening. It was also the only place where I made sure my weapon was handy when I went to bed.

Has anyone else stopped at a really nasty place? help

Many years ago we pulled into a campground, sat in the lot out front for about 5 minutes, then left. The looks of the place just made us uncomfortable. Hate to say it because we both love TN, but that was where we were.

Yes we have a few of those in South Dakota too, especially in the Black Hills region, where tourism is high.

At first when I read the title, I thought maybe I found a new place to hang out on mens night..... lol!

Many years ago, I had a room at a Motel 6 that was so disgusting that I left and went to a different hotel even though I had to pay twice.

Our first trip w/ the Cat, we stayed in a commercial CG in the New Braunsfel, TX area. This CG was located between the north and south bound bridges of I-35. The highway noise was horrible, I woke up during the night fearing an 18 wheeler was going to come crashing into the Cat. The sites were well kept, but very crowded. The next morning, we hooked up and went to Guadeloupe River SP.
