SODA POP BONELESS RIBS DUTCH STYLE

Post by pollittax on 10/18/2009, 3:40 pm

NOT MINE, CAME FROM AN OLD BOOK. 2-3 POUNDS BONELESS RIBS, 4 RED OR GREEN PEPPERS, 2 LARGE ONIONS,2BOTTLES CHEAP BBQ SAUCE KRAFT?, 2 LITER OF SPRITE, SALT AND PEPPER . IN LARGE DUTCH OVEN OVER 15 COALS OR GAS GRILL ON MEDIUM,GET OVEN HOT. POUR ENOUGH OIL OR CRISCO TO COVER BOTTOM OF OVEN,SEAR ALL RIBS,THEY MAY NOT ALL FIT. CUT ONIONS AND PEPPERS UP THEN THROW IN OVEN WITH RIBS. POUR BOTH BOTTLES OF BBQ, AND "HALF" THE 2 LITER OF SPRITE IN. SALT/PEPPER TO TASTE. MIX IT ALL UP WITH SPOON. LET COOK ABOUT 2 HOURS, STIR ONCE IN A WHILE. THE SAUCE TASTES UNLIKE ANY WE EVER HAVE TASTED, SOUNDS LIKE A LOT OF WORK, BUT GOS FAST, WE HAVE COVERED THE OVEN AND CHARCOAL IN THE RAIN WITH ALUMINUM FOIL AND STILL WORKS FINE. DW LOVES IT

It is delicious. Used this recipe for several years, also works great with chicken.
